Milling exotic materials
Exotic materials:
|
|
Most common problems to face:
- Abrasiveness of the material
- Resonance of the machine and/or workpiece
- Vibrations of the workpiece and/or tool
How to handle:
- Stable clamping of tool and material
- Coolant
- Chip flow
VHC new generation end mills for machining exotic materials:
- VHVTR: 4 Flute for roughing / Semi finishing
- HABM: Ball nose for finishing / Semi finishing
- HAMF (L-XL): Multiple flute finishing
VHVTR
- Sharp geometry
- Polished flutes
- Coating with low friction coefficient
"Try to have as much coolant on the tool as possible. Recommended oil percentage of the emulsion coolant if possible between 8-12%. Also try to have a smooth chip-flow so the chip can leave the flute easily."
